Feedback on the first edition on the IEEEVR XR Art Gallery
Two weeks ago we had the honour of hosting the prestigious conference IEEE VR - Conference On Virtual Reality And 3D User Interfaces (IEEE VR) on XR research at home, in Saint-Malo France.
As part of the prestigious A* conference, my co-chair and I had the privilege to chair the first edition of the IEEEVR XR Gallery fostering bridge between digital artists and researchers questioning the fundamentals of the immersive spaces we’re interacting with daily.

Setting-up such event within the framework of a major scientific conference was not a smooth ride, as we had to bind two communities that don’t necessarily speak the same languages. Despite their intellectual affinities, bringing these two worlds together required a great deal of compromise and adaptation.
Like two sides of the same coin, the artist and the researcher approach the world in complementary ways. As a fervent advocate of cross-collaborative projects between art and science, it makes perfect sense to bring these communities together in one place for their mutual advancement.
This year the gallery granted two exceptional for art projects published and exhibited at the IEEE VR conference. The award committee this year was constituted of members from Ars Electronica, who carefully considered every project in terms of its novelty, impact and technical mastery.

My warmest congratulation to Goki Muramoto for Imagraph (Best XR Gallery Exhibit). Same goes to Dr Jonathan Harth & Tore Knabe for Edges of Identity: A Reverse Turing Test (Best XR Gallery - Honorable Mention).
According to feedback from researchers and artists, the first edition of the IEEEVR25 XR gallery was a great success. As such an event requires a lot of people and collaboration. I’d like to extend my warmest thanks to all those who helped make the gallery such a success.
